Emotional Skills Profile — how you read, manage, and support emotions
The Emotional Skills Profile is a short, research-inspired self-assessment in LEVO's personality collection. It treats emotional competence as three connected skills: noticing feelings — your own and other people's — working with your own emotions, and supporting other people through theirs. You answer 24 short statements on a five-point agree-to-disagree scale, in about five minutes, and you get a profile that scores each of the three skills on its own bar rather than a single overall number. It sits next to what's popularly called emotional intelligence — and it is a self-reflection tool, not a clinical or diagnostic test.
What it measures — the three emotional skills
- Reading Emotions — Noticing emotions clearly, in yourself and others: catching your own feeling early, telling similar feelings apart, and picking up the mood of a room before anyone says anything.
- Working With Your Emotions — Regulating and using your feelings rather than being run by them or shutting them down: settling yourself when activated, recovering from setbacks, and treating emotions as information.
- Supporting Others' Emotions — Helping other people through hard feelings: knowing what to say when someone is upset, listening before jumping to fix it, and staying grounded when someone around you is very upset.
Your result — a three-skill profile, not one score
The result opens with a profile at a glance: one horizontal bar per skill — Reading, Working With, Supporting — so you see your three emotional skills side by side. There is no single composite EQ number; the whole point is that these are separate skills that can sit at different levels in the same person. Each bar carries a plain-language level: Developing, Growing, or Strong.
Below the overview, each skill gets a short written read-out. A strong result describes where the skill shows up for you and what to watch out for; a growing or developing result reads as encouragement plus concrete prompts for building it. The consistent message is that these are skills that can be practised, not fixed traits.
About this assessment

Questions & answers
Is the Emotional Skills Profile an emotional intelligence (EQ) test?
It is in the same territory. The profile is inspired by the way researchers describe emotional competence — perceiving emotion, managing your own, and helping others with theirs — which is the everyday idea most people mean by "emotional intelligence." But it is not a validated clinical EQ instrument and does not produce an "EQ score." Think of it as a structured self-reflection on three emotional skills.
Is the Emotional Skills Profile clinical or diagnostic?
No. It is for self-exploration and educational purposes only. It does not diagnose, evaluate, or assess any condition, and it is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. The results describe patterns in how you answered on the day you took it.
How long does it take, and what do the questions look like?
About five minutes. You rate 24 short statements about everyday emotional habits on a five-point scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree. There is no timer and no right answer.
What will my result show me?
A profile across three emotional skills — Reading Emotions, Working With Your Emotions, and Supporting Others’ Emotions — each shown on its own bar with a plain-language level and a short, practical read-out. Because the three are scored separately, you might land high on one and still have room to grow on another.
