Sliding Numbers is LEVO's take on the classic sliding-tile puzzle (the "15 puzzle"), in the Popular Games category. A square board of numbered stone tiles has exactly one empty slot; you slide tiles into the gap, one at a time, until the numbers run in order. LEVO scales the classic from a gentle 3×3 all the way to a formidable 8×8 — six board sizes in total — and every scramble is guaranteed solvable. Sliding Numbers helps improve planning, spatial reasoning, and decision making.

How to play

The board appears scrambled: numbered tiles fill every cell except one empty slot. Tap any tile directly next to the gap — left, right, above, or below — and it slides into the empty space. That is the entire control scheme; the depth comes from sequencing dozens of slides so that tiles reach their places without wrecking the ones you have already positioned. Solve the board by arranging the numbers in ascending order, left to right and top to bottom, with the empty slot ending bottom-right. There is no timer, score, or lives — solving the board advances you to the next size. Because each scramble is produced by shuffling a solved board with legal moves, every board can be solved.

Planning — Sliding puzzles are pure move sequencing — the tile you want to move last dictates the move you make first — which improves organizing steps and anticipating outcomes.

Questions & answers

Is Sliding Numbers the same as the 15 puzzle?

Yes — it is the classic sliding-tile mechanic. The 4×4 board with tiles 1–15 is the traditional "15 puzzle"; LEVO adds five more sizes, from 3×3 up to 8×8.

Are the boards always solvable?

Yes. Each board starts solved and is scrambled using only legal slides, so every position you are handed can be returned to order — a property random tile placement would not guarantee.

How do you move tiles?

Tap a tile adjacent to the empty slot and it slides in. Only tiles next to the gap can move, so solving is really about steering the gap around the board.
