Fish Catcher — follow the one fish that matters
Fish Catcher is a focus game in LEVO's brain-games library. Each round, a school of fish fades in on the board: one fish sits at the centre of the formation while the others swim around it, every one facing its own direction. Your task is single-minded — answer the direction the middle fish is swimming, and ignore everything the decoys are doing. A correct swipe scores points, a wrong one costs them, and the school dissolves either way as a new formation takes its place. Reach the level's score goal before the countdown ends to move on.
How to play
A formation of fish appears on a tall grid — the main fish in the middle, decoys arranged symmetrically around it, each pointing left, right, up, or down at random. Wait for the school to fade fully in, then answer the middle fish's swimming direction: swipe anywhere on the board, tap the on-screen direction pad, or press an arrow key. Correct answers add points; wrong ones subtract the same amount, though your score never drops below zero. After each answer the school fades out, the board goes briefly empty, and a fresh formation appears somewhere new. There are no lives and no rounds to count — just the score goal and the clock. Hit the goal before time runs out to complete the level.
What it helps improve
- Focus — Picking one fish out of a school and holding it against a field of moving-looking decoys helps improve your concentration and resistance to wandering thoughts.
- Task shifting — Every board is a fresh formation in a fresh spot; re-finding the centre and re-orienting each time helps you switch smoothly between one configuration and the next.
- Hand-eye coordination — Translating the fish’s heading into an immediate directional swipe helps refine the synchronization between visual input and hand movements.
Levels & progression
50 levels: score goals and timers scale as you climb, and the adaptive tier label — Novice, Regular, Adept, Master, Expert — tracks your place in the 50.
Questions & answers
What does Fish Catcher help improve?
Fish Catcher lists three skills it helps improve: focus (attending to one target among lookalike distractors), task shifting (re-orienting to a brand-new formation every few seconds), and hand-eye coordination (answering with a fast, accurate directional swipe).
How do I know which fish to watch?
The main fish always sits at the centre of the school — the surrounding decoys are placed symmetrically around it. Find the fish the formation is built around, read its swimming direction, and ignore where the others point.
How many levels does Fish Catcher have?
50 complexity-based levels with rising score goals, labelled by an adaptive difficulty tier that runs from Novice through Regular, Adept, and Master to Expert.
